According to reports, Premier league‘s latest entrants Cardiff City are looking to bring in Bournemouth‘s midfielder Dan Gosling to Cardiff City Stadium. The midfielder enjoyed a good season last time around as he forged a good partnership with Lewis Cook in the middle of the park which helped the Cherries finish 12th in the league.
The former England u-21 international made 32 appearances in all competitions and managed three goals and one assist. However, he shouldn’t be judged on his goal or assist count as he played in a more conservative role as a midfielder. Gosling has been at the Vitality Stadium since 2014 but he has struggled with injuries for quite some time. However, last season, he was a regular feature for his side in the middle of the park and it seems he has won over Eddie Howe.
Neil Warnock will be looking to add more stability and experienced options in midfield and Gosling certainly fits the bill. However, it remains to be seen whether Eddie Howe will let him go as another one of his midfield aces, Harry Arter is also being linked with a move away. The Bluebirds are willing to offer £5m for the 28-year-old as they look to strengthen their side further to prepare for the challenges of the Premier League.
The Bluebirds won direct promotion to the top flight as they finished second in the Championship. It was certainly a tight race for the second spot as Fulham were closing in on them. They dropped points on the final day as they drew, however, the Cottagers themselves went on to lose their final game which ensured a smooth passage for their rivals to the top flight.
Neil Warnock will be aware that his real test will now be keeping his side in the Premier League. The likes of Wolves and Fulham look formidable and most of the pundits might consider Cardiff City as one of the contenders for the drop. To avoid that, they will be in need of players with Premier League experience and that is what someone like Gosling can provide.

It remains to be seen whether Howe lets Gosling leave if there is a concrete offer for him on the table. It is believed that the Bournemouth manager will fancy Harry Arter leaving over Gosling and that could make things difficult for Cardiff as it is highly unlikely that Cherries will let go of two central midfielders in the same transfer window.
