Swansea City are eyeing a move for Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter. The Irish international has been with the Cherries since 2010 when they were a League One club and he has seen the club slowly become a Premier League regular over the years. However, his time could be up at the Vitality stadium as Eddie Howe looks to bring in stronger options in his role.
Arter has his contract at the club until 2021 but now it is highly unlikely that he will come close to seeing off his contract. Last season, he wasn’t a regular part of Eddie Howe’s side and made just 13 appearances in the Premier League. Even though he has been with the club for almost a decade, he is still just 28 and there is certainly enough pedigree in him to turn out for a Championship club.
The likes of Adam Gosling and Lewis Cook were a regular feature in midfield last season and Arter had to be content with a spot on the bench for the most part of the season. The midfielder has made a whopping 254 appearances for them in his 8 years stay and has been a loyal servant for them since the time they were playing in lower divisions.
Swansea City, meanwhile, had a poor season as they failed to survive in the Premier League despite their best efforts. They were on track towards survival but a vital loss against Southampton derailed their chances and ultimately they went down. They went on to part ways with Carlos Carvalhal and have appointed the highly rated Graham Potter.
Potter will be in need of some established and proven players as he can lose out on some of his key players. The Swans are currently thin in central midfield department as Sung Yong Ki, Tom Carroll and Leroy Fer are the only reliable options at their disposal.

Arter will certainly bring experience and stability to that midfield and will certainly be a good addition for the Swans if they go on to sign him. From Bournemouth’s point of view, it will be tough for them to accommodate the veteran in the playing eleven as they are also being linked to Jefferson Lerma and it is likely that he will be going down the pecking order further. At 28, he still has some football left in him and it will be a good move for all the parties involved if he goes on to play at Liberty Stadium.
