According to latest reports, Real Madrid has made an official offer for AS Roma’s in demand goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The bid is said to be £50m but it is expected that the Serie A outfit will outright reject it as they are looking to raise close to £75m for the Brazilian stopper.
Becker had a breakthrough season with the Italians as they had a fairytale run in the Champions League to reach the semi-final, beating tournament favourites Barcelona in spectacular circumstances. In their domestic league, they finished third and will again be preparing for European competition next season.
However, they can be without Becker as he has been linked with a move to some of the European giants. Both the Champions League finalists from last season are said to be on the hunt to sign him but it seems like Real Madrid is the likelier destination for the 25-year-old.
It was pretty clear that Real Madrid’s first choice to replace Keylor Navas would have been Spain and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea. But the Spaniard has gone on to sign a new five-year contract with the Red Devils, and maybe now it is time for Florentino Perez to look at other possible options. They seem to be wasting no time as they look to replace Navas in goal for the upcoming season.
Navas has been good for them in the last few seasons but certainly isn’t in the same bracket as the likes of De Gea or Becker. The Costa Rican international is prone to some mistakes once in a while but overall he has done a good job at the Santiago Bernabeu in the last four years.
Madrid have been recently involved in a controversy regarding their appointment of their new manager. They went on to appoint Julen Lopetegui who was then managing the Spanish National team and the decision to commit his future for Real Madrid even before the start of World Cup didn’t go down well with the Spanish federation and they ended up sacking Lopetegui just two days before their first encounter against Portugal. However, this might mean that the manager will now have more time to prepare the Real Madrid squad and himself for the upcoming challenges.

We have often seen Los Blancos splashing the cash in the transfer market to get their target and it looks likely that Becker will turn out for them in the upcoming season. Galacticos have all the potential to meet Roma’s demands and the fact that Alisson is just 25, that kind of amount in today’s market is justified.
