Barcelona’s summer transfer plans have taken another dramatic twist after the Antoine Griezmann saga earlier in the week. Now it is being reported that Neymar could be on his way back to the Camp Nou after spending just 12 months in France.
It has just been days since Griezmann released a full documentary stating his wishes to remain with Atletico Madrid. The Frenchman ended all rumours of a Blaugrana transfer by taking a page out of Lebron James’ book (NBA star who let it be known to the public of his decision to the Miami Heat from Cleveland Cavaliers in a similar fashion).
This obviously has set off a chain of responsive measures in the Barca ranks, all working towards finding an able replacement. It is no secret that Neymar’s departure has left a massive gap in the club’s ranks which two mammoth signings of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho has not been able to cover up.
The latter are still adjusting to life with the La Liga giants but Lionel Messi ideally would like a more helping hand on the offensive end that Neymar used to offer. The front line of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez was almost unstoppable on their best days and had won the club 2 La Liga titles, 3 Copa del Reys and a UEFA Champions League trophy.
Now it seems like Real Madrid are running the show with 4 of the European trophies registered over the last 5 seasons. Messi and the Blaugrana fans are not in the slightest bit amused to see their bitter rivals upstage them to continental glory 3 seasons in a row.
Reinforcements are highly necessary at the moment and nothing could be better than the reunion of the front three ahead of the 2018/19 season. Neymar enjoyed his best footballing years with Barcelona and even won himself a Balon d’Or nomination 2 seasons back.
Now 26, the former Santos winger wanted to escape the shadow of Messi at the Catalan side and hence decided to opt for the move to the Paris Saint-Germain. After witnessing his team get knocked out of the Champions League in the first knockout round, the Brazilian very quickly realised the harsh realities of life outside of the Camp Nou.
Messi is still at the peak of his playing career but at 30 might not be able to pull the Barcelona offence by lonesome. He is more than willing to sacrifice his place in the spotlight and set Neymar up as the next talisman.

If Barcelona can scavenge the funds, they should be prompt to make an offer.
