The FA Cup victory late last season does not seem enough for Antonio Conte to retain his job as the Chelsea manager as the Blues are now reportedly close to landing Maurizio Sarri this summer. But the unrest at the club is sure to affect star players in the squad and one such player now unsettled at Stamford Bridge is N’Golo Kante.
Having joined Chelsea in 2016, months after lifting the Premier League trophy with Leicester City, Kante went on to repeat the feat with Chelsea in the 2016-17 season, where he was also named the PFA Player of the Year. He continued that form last season as well, standing as one of the best players for Chelsea, who failed to find any consistency.
He is now a crucial part of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the World Cup and is certainly one of the players in his role in Europe, if not the best. It is natural that he would want to play for the best in Europe so it does not come as a surprise that interests from PSG have already turned his head.
Reports from France claim that PSG have made the 27-year old their top transfer target his summer. The story reveals that PSG’s entourage is now in London to try and strike a deal with Chelsea. They will have to wait till the end of the World Cup to open talks with Kante but it is understood that the midfielder is open to moving back to France this summer.
However, Kante wants to know the identity of the new Chelsea boss before making the switch and if Chelsea do appoint Maurizio Sarri soon, they may yet be able to keep Kante. But what is best for the former Leicester City star’s future?
At 27, he is in his prime as a footballer and will want to play every week. He will be the first choice midfielder for Chelsea as well as PSG but the fact that he is the best midfielder at Stamford Bridge at the moment might give Chelsea the edge.

Playing in his home country will surely be attractive but Kante has already settled into the English style of play and has made a serious impact in the country. He may be able to repeat the same at PSG but is sure to take some time, which might scupper his chances at the French capital.
With a new manager, all PSG can offer is Champions League football but Kante knows the quality of the squad at Chelsea and should take his chances to try and win more trophies in England.
