It is not pleasant times in the camp at Stamford Bridge as issues with ownership and the manager have already cost Chelsea this summer. They are unable to land their top transfer targets unless they decide about the future of Antonio Conte. And it is now having a ripple effect as the best of stars at the club are now extensively linked with an exit.
It was Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois not so long ago and the latest name now wanted elsewhere in Europe is N Golo Kante.
The French international, who is one of the first names on the team sheet for Didier Deschamps in France, Kante rise to fame is nothing less than a fairy tale. He started his senior career with Boulogne but only made a name for himself after he moved to Caen. He established himself as a hard-working midfielder, a breed which is now rare and manager to earn himself a move to the Premier League with Leicester City back in 2015.
He helped the Foxes to a stunning domestic league title in his first year at the club and soon was picked up by Chelsea in 2016. In his first year at Stamford Bridge, under Antonio Conte, he was yet again impressive and consistent, winning the league yet again, with a different club. This time, he was also named the PFA Player of the Year for his heroics in the middle of the park.
In a season that has not been kind to Chelsea, he managed to come out as one of the best players for the club and is easily a player that Chelsea will struggle to replace. However, reports now suggest that Kante is a transfer target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
His deal with Chelsea runs till 2021 and the Blues have no real need to sell but Kante was on Real’s radar even under Zinedine Zidane and it is now understood that they might step up his pursuit, looking to take advantage of the unrest at Stamford Bridge. But can Chelsea afford to lose him?
The 27-year old is one of the best tacklers in modern football and his energy and zeal to win the ball back in the midfield is something that is not seen enough in the game recently. He is ready to throw himself on the line for his side, covers almost the entire ground and is almost like having two players for the cost of one.
