Liverpool’s transfer business this summer has been exciting, to say the least. They have missed out on a couple of top transfer targets, but have already made their squad stronger from the last season. They are still looking to improve on the options at the club this summer and continue to be linked with a number of superstars from across Europe.
One such player, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool for over a year now is Suso.
The Spanish international, who moved to Liverpool as a 16-year old back in 2010, started his senior career at Anfield. He spent five years at the club, making a name for himself under Brendan Rodgers, but managed just 14 league appearances, before he was sold to AC Milan just months before his contract expired.
He always had a reputation of being a gifted footballer and many Liverpool fans were not really happy seeing him leave. However, they are now in with a real chance to bring him back to Anfield, with reports claiming that he has a £35m release clause in his contract. To add fuel to these rumours, Suso himself has recently spoken about how he would love to play for Liverpool in the future. So is he an option Liverpool should look at this summer?
A versatile playmaker, who can play in any of the attacking roles, or as a central midfielder when needed, the 24-year old has been a crucial part of the AC Milan squad that managed to qualify for Europe in the last two seasons. He was impressive last season, racking up eight goals and seven assists in all competitions and showed enough consistency for clubs from England to show interest in his again.
Tottenham Hotspur have also extensively scouted for him but his previous stint at Merseyside will help Liverpool land him this summer. But what does he bring to Anfield?
A specialist over a dead ball, Suso is a gifted footballer with great touch and close control. He has decent vision and a passing range that can break even the best of defence lines while his ability to test keepers from long range makes him all the more dangerous.
He loves to help in build-up play, can create chances galore from in and around the box and is a decent fit for Klopp’s system. The German tactician wants another creative playmaker added to his squad, as is evident from his pursuit of Nabil Fekir. Though Suso may not have yet reached the level of the French international, he is definitely a player that can do a job at Anfield.
