Leeds United, who are reportedly in pursuit of German striker Marvin Duksch, might have been given a big boost as Fortuna Dusseldorf, who were said to be the 24-year-old’s preferred destination, might not be able to afford him as his club St. Pauli has put a €2.5 to 3m pricetag on his head. The 24 year old has been playing in the German second division. He has been on loan with Holstein Kiel since January 2017 and he has managed 24 goals and 16 assists in just 54 appearances.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker had invoked a lot of interest in German second division on the back of his strong performances and the recently promoted Fortuna Dusseldorf were considered to be the favourites in having his signature. However, according to reports, the German outfit will have a transfer budget of €4m and it seems highly unlikely that they will spend €3m on just one player.
Leeds United have been linked with him even in the January transfer window but nothing materialised. But this news should alert them if they are seriously considering pursuing a move for the 24-year-old striker.
Leeds United had a dismal season after a good start. They finished 13th and were 15 points of the playoff spot. They need to make huge improvements if they want to come close to the playoff spots again and having a prolific striker is an absolute must for them. The managerless Whites also need to sort out their new manager and according to reports, they are closing in on bringing in the veteran Argentine, Marcelo Biesla.
Their top scorer was Kemar Roofe, who managed only 11 goals and apart from him no other player touched the 10 goal mark in the league. The team is in dire need of a proven goal scorer and they have been linked with quite a few of them. However, they are still not any closer in securing the likes of Abel Hernandez or Matej Vydra and if they miss out on those two, then Duksch can be a good option to have.

Though he has got no experience of playing in the English league and that could be a cause for worry for the Whites as we often see players from other League fail to establish themselves in England. For example, Pawel Cibicki who was brought from Sweden but he has failed to deliver the goods at Elland Road. However, Duksch seems to be much better prepared to take on the challenges of Championship football.
