West Ham United are closing in on securing the deal for Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. The Polish international was expected to leave the club ever since the Swans went down and there were quite a few Premier League clubs who were vying for his signature but it seems that the Hammers, under the new management of Manuel Pellegrini, have taken the lead to sign the custodian.
Reports suggest that both the parties are in advanced talks and the move will be expected to go through in few days. The Hammers had a poor season but they did manage to get some good results in the latter half of the season which secured their place in the English top flight. David Moyes’ contract wasn’t extended and the Hammers went on to bring in Pellegrini and that gave him a second chance to show his worth in the Premier League.
Fabianski played all the games for Swans last season and was solid for them at the back. He was one of their best player of the season and often kept his team in the game with some crucial games. However, he was often let down by his shoddy defence and he managed 9 clean sheets in the entire campaign.
The acquisition of Fabianski will certainly boost the East London club’s options at the back as they have struggled to find an able goalkeeper in the last few years. Last term they brought in the veteran English goalkeeper Joe Hart on a season-long loan, but he failed to resurrect his career and was on the back of some fatal errors. Moyes went on to deploy Adrian for a good amount of games and the Spaniard though was inconsistent but turned up with better performance than his English counterpart.
Hammers have made it clear that they will not look to get the veteran on a permanent basis and that is one of the reasons why they are after a goalkeeper and Fabianski will certainly be a fab option for them. The 33 year will be in Russia for the World Cup but it is expected that he will be the second choice as Wojeich Szczesny will be the preferred option.

Fabianski will be a good addition to Pellegrini’s squad and will certainly bring competition for places as Adrian ended the previous season on a high. It might very well happen that the Polish will be the preferred starter under the new manager.
