Cardiff City, the latest entrants into the Premier League, have sealed the signing of one of the most highly rated attacking aces from the Championship in the form of Josh Murphy from Norwich City. The 23-year-old winger has penned down a four-year-long contract at the Welsh outfit and is expected to play a very crucial role in their battle for survival in the top flight.
The player is a product of the Norwich City academy and has put in a number of brilliant performances for the Canaries since his inclusion in the senior team. He has made 108 appearances for them throughout his career so far out of which 47 came in the last season alone.
The 23-year-old is known for his guile and presence of mind on the ball while vying against the opposition players and can take any of the best defenders to the sword on his day. His pace and prowess are two of the best attributes of his game, which he often used to get the better of his opponents, making him a fan favourite at Carrow Road.
The English youngster is Cardiff City’s first signing of the season and manager Neil Warnock looked more than happy to include him in his squad. He termed him as his “number one target” of the transfer window and is head over heels to have secured his signature on the contract.
Warnock said,”Josh is a player I’ve watched for a number of years now and he’s always excited me when he runs with the ball.”
He added, “I think he’s at the right age now with his best still to come,” Warnock added.
“He can play an instrumental part in helping us to stay in the Premier League and I know he’s looking forward to the challenge.”
Cardiff spent a fee, speculated to be around £11 million, to bring in the Englishman from Norwich. The sum is equivalent to the one they shelled out when they signed the Chilean midfielder Gary Medal from Sevilla in 2013. However, Murphy is the biggest buy of the Neil Warnock era so far, the former one being Gary Madine, who was brought in from Bolton in January for £6 million.

The Bluebirds should surely look to make their next season in the top flight a good one and not only survive among the elites of English football but also make a name for themselves as “giant killers.” Hopefully the acquisition of Murphy will be a key component to lift the spirits of the Cardiff City faithful.
