Manchester United’s long-lasting interests in Gareth Bale might just bear fruits this summer. The Welsh winger, who dismantled thousands of Liverpool dreams at Kyiv recently, is easily one of the best wingers in world football at the moment and there could not have been a better time for the Red Devils to lure him to England.
The former Tottenham Hotspur attacker spoke about frustrations at Bernabeu in the open and could be tempted to quit Spain if the right offer arrives. And reports today claim that Bale is now ready for a Premier League return this summer.
A recent story from The Mirror claims that Bale prefers to return back to England over an option to play in the Bundesliga. It is understood that Bayern Munich approached Real Madrid for Gareth Bale, as a replacement for the ageing Arjen Robben. But Bale has already had Madrid known that he prefers to play in England once again. The same report goes on to claim that Bale will still be valued at £100m and that Manchester United are yet to make an official approach for the player.
A lot also will depend on who the new gaffer at the Spanish capital is. Real Madrid allowed Zinedine Zidane to leave after two and half years of trophy-laden football, and are now in search of a successor. Bale will want to wait until one is appointed as he will want to sort out his future after knowing the plans of the new manager. So this might be the best time for United to make a move for Bale.
Unsettled at Bernabeu, the Welshman is not a part of the World Cup in Russia and is available for discussions. Manchester United are in the transfer market for an out-right winger and though spending on Bale will mean they have to be miserly in improving other areas of the squad, the 29-year old is well worth the fuss.
A match winner on his night, Bale is quick, strong, athletic and perfect for the English game. He will trouble even the best of defenders and will probably walk into the first team at Old Trafford alongside Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, he has quality players around him, who can get the best out of him.

His injury history might play spoilsport but United have been looking to bring him to Old Trafford for quite a while now and this might be their best shot. The dilemma in his mind about whether he will get a starting spot under the new Los Blancos manager Julen Lopetegui in the next season will definitely be there at the moment and can act as a catalyst for this move, but do you think United should spend £100m on a 29-year old winger?
