Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a deal for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri as an alternative to Jorginho of Napoli. Pep Guardiola’s team were in hot pursuit of Jorginho but Napoli’s asking price for the player has seen negotiations stall and Manchester City are now planning to shift their focus toward Seri who will cost them lesser money in the transfer market.
Manchester City romped to the English Premier League title in the recently concluded season after Pep Guardiola’s men produced some world-class football to outsmart their domestic opponents. Guardiola was brought in to the Etihad by the cash rich-owners of City back in 2016 as they wanted a manager who would lead not only with titles but also raise the quality and brand of football played at the Etihad.
The Spanish manager set off to work and after disappointing in the first season, he left no stones unturned this time around as his men broke several records on their way to the title. City scored the most number of goals in the league in a season, they won the most number of matches in a season in the league and most importantly they became the first English team to reach 100 points in a single season in the league.
They were by far the superior team and the likes of Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho were crucial to the success of the team. These players played almost every minute of every game as City won one of the most difficult league titles with absurd ease. The players, however, suffered from fatigue towards the end as rotation was low and the hectic schedule in England took its toll. This has led to Guardiola searching for more options in the market this season to improve the depth of his squad at the Etihad.
It was reported that Guardiola was targeting Napoli midfield ace Jorginho as his priority signing but the Naples side played hardball and that has now left City looking at other options. It is being believed that a bid in the region of £36m will be enough to land Nice star Seri as opposed to the excessive £60m that was being charged for Jorginho.

Seri is an extremely athletic, ball-playing midfielder with an abundance of energy. He has the pace and physicality to adapt to the Premier League and the 26-year old has at least 6-7 years of top-class football left in him and can be the perfect backup to Fernandinho.
