Rangers are close to securing a loan move for Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria. The loan period is said to be one season long and as per latest reports, the 20-year-old could be on his way to Ibrox stadium soon. This could be Steven Gerrard’s fourth signing of the summer as he has already secured the services of Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy.
The youngster has failed to get game time at the senior level for Liverpool and he had spent the latter half of the last season with Sunderland on loan. He made 11 appearances in the Championship and it was expected that Jurgen Klopp will again send him on loan for the upcoming season as the Reds have signed some exciting talents to play in midfield.
Ejaria failed to save Sunderland from relegation but he was good for them in the middle of the park. He managed one goal for the Black Cats as they got relegated to League One and suffered successive relegations.
The English midfielder can turn out to be a good prospect as Steven Gerrard would have seen him from close quarters and as expected, Gerrard has made use of his relationship with Liverpool board and management to seal the deal for Ejaria.
The youngster is eligible to play for Nigeria and England but the youngster has gone on to represent Three Lions at various youth level tournaments. Ejaria is a central midfielder but can even play the no.10 role. Gers currently have the likes of Josh Windass, Jordan Rossiter, Andy Halliday and Greg Docherty at their disposal. Out of the lot, only Windass can be termed as an out and out attacking midfielder and Ejaria might be used slightly up the field if he makes the switch to the fallen Scottish giants.
TeddyBears have yet again seen their derby rivals Celtic dominate the Scottish Premiership as they finished 12 points behind them. Gers board and management team has taken a huge punt by appointing an inexperienced Gerrard at the helm of the club and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to revive Rangers.
