Everton’s Director Of Football, Marcel Brands is ready to offload a few of the club’s unnecessary personnel ahead of the 2018/19 season. The Toffees seem overstacked with 38 players in the side and the former PSV Eindhoven man wants to bring down the tally between 25 to 30. In the process, players will be managed better and the wage books could be cleared out for accommodating more talented and higher pedigree players.
This problem has plagued the club for quite some time, especially after the extravagant addition of players in the previous summer window. Farhad Moshiri’s £200m expenditure plan has not worked and the money needs to be reinvested properly to deem the best results.
The Toffees finished the 2017/18 campaign 8th in the league and was even in the relegation scraps during the early months of the season. If it were not for Sam Allardyce’s expertise in evading relegation, we would have witnessed the world’s most expensive failure in the history of the game.
Now with the summer window upon them, Everton has the chance to start afresh and their Iranian owner is ready to spend big again.
Marco Silva has also just been appointed as the manager who is expected to work closely with Brands in this expedition. Here are a few players Everton should quickly do away with to make way for better options.
Morgan Schneiderlin
The Frenchman has been nothing short of disappointing in his debut season at the Goodison Park, often making the silliest of errors in midfield. Despite failing to meet the required standards, Schneiderlin escaped the wrath of Allardyce and was fielded in as much as 30 Premier League games.
Tom Davies has fared far better than the 28-year-old and deserves the starting spot alongside Idrissa Gueye. Even with a double leg break, James McCarthy could have put in a better shift than the former Manchester United man.
Schneiderlin never really could find his feet after his impressive bouts with Southampton. His expensive 3-year contract should be done away with as soon as possible.
Davy Klaassen
If there ever was a more pointless signing in Everton’s history, Klaassen could very well top that list as evident from the past season. The 24-year-old might have bags of talent under his boots but he failed to show any of it at the Merseyside club.
It might be time to sell him while he still has some value in the transfer market even though Everton will have a hard time recouping their purchase amount.

Ramiro Funes Mori
Plighten injury and mostly inconsistent during his time on the pitch, the Argentine centre-back has really failed to hit the mark. He just doesn’t cut it for an ambitious side like Everton and is neither suited as a backup option and can, therefore, be shown the door this summer.
