Arsenal are plotting a move for Olympique Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are planning to make a move for the French talent during this ongoing transfer period. It is believed that Arsenal boss Unai Emery is eager to strengthen his midfield options ahead of the new season and Sanson fits the bill perfectly.
The French midfield enforcer joined Marseille from Montpellier in the winter of 2017 and has gone on to be a huge success in the French top-flight. Some sources have recently claimed that the North London giants are keeping tabs on his progress at Orange Vélodrome. The 23-year-old has put in a number of impressive performances during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. However, Arsenal are not the only ones looking to recruit him with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur both monitoring his situation at the French club.
Sanson had featured in 53 matches for the Ligue 1 outfit last season, scoring 12 goals while grabbing 3 assists across all competitions. He could prove to be a shrewd signing for the Gunners if they can pull off such a move in this post-season.
The North London club only managed to attain an underwhelming 6th placed finish in the English top-flight last term which will see them fail to take part in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. Hence, Unai Emery needs to acquire some quality talents during this summer transfer window so that his players can challenge for top honours in the following campaign.
The potential acquisition of Sanson will definitely bolster Emery’s midfield options at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have a lot of midfield talents in their ranks such as Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny vying for a starting berth in Emery’s first XI. The addition of Sanson will add more competition for places within the Gunners squad and improve their team significantly going into the new season.
