Arsenal have enquired about the availability of VfB Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard in this summer transfer window. According to a recent report by L’Equipe, the Gunners are looking to snap up the Bundesliga ace during this ongoing transfer period. It is understood that the new Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking to add some quality to his squad ahead of the new season and Pavard fits the bill perfectly.
Some sources are now claiming that the North London giants have asked for more information about the possibility of a summer move for the French centre-back. Recent sources have also suggested that Stuttgart are demanding a fee in the region of £44m for their prized asset.
The 22-year-old signed for Stuttgart in the summer of 2016 from LOSC Lille and has since put in some commanding displays for the German outfit over the last few years which has not gone unnoticed. His outstanding contributions last season saw him get rewarded with a place in the French national squad who are flying to Russia to take part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off later this month.
Pavard had made 36 appearances for the German club last season and has one goal to his name across all competitions. The Bundesliga defensive ace has also earned 4 international caps for the French national team during his career so far. He is young, talented and has massive potential which is why the Gunners should go all out to secure his services in the coming weeks.
The Gunners had a disappointing campaign after claiming a 6th placed finish in the league last season. Emery’s team are in need to recruit some top-class talents in this transfer window if they want to challenge for a Champions League spot in the upcoming season.
The addition of Pavard will undoubtedly bolster their defensive options at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have a whole host of defensive talents such as Laurent Koscielny, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Shkodran Mustafi and Callum Chambers competing for a starting berth in Emery’s backline. The potential acquisition of Pavard will add more competition for places within the Gunners squad and improve their team a lot next term.
