Bayern Munich are weighing up a surprise move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford this summer. According to recent reports, the Toffees star is attracting interest from the Bavarian giants ahead of a potential move during this summer transfer period. With Manuel Neuer’s future at the Allianz Arena uncertain, it is understood that the Bundesliga club are preparing to bring in a new goalie who can improve their squad and Pickford fits the bill perfectly.
Some sources are now claiming that Bayern are keeping tabs on the English shot-stopper’s development at Merseyside and could make an offer for him in this transfer window. Pickford signed for the Toffees last summer when he completed a £30m transfer from Sunderland. He had a good campaign with the Blues of Merseyside last season and his commanding performances during the course of last season have caught the eyes of Bayern chiefs.
The 24-year-old also managed to obtain a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off in Russia later this month. The Everton goalie had featured in 46 matches last season, conceding 70 goals while keeping 12 clean sheets in all competitions. He has also earned 3 international caps for the England national team during his playing career so far.
The Toffees only managed to secure an 8th placed finish in the English top-flight last term. The Merseysiders are in dire need to recruit some quality players in the summer so that they can improve on their league performance and push for a European place next term.
Retaining some of their top talents like Pickford will be integral if the Merseyside outfit are to bridge the gap to their local rivals, Liverpool in the top tier of English football in the upcoming campaign. At 24, the English keeper has his peak years ahead of him which Everton could look to make use of, in the years to come. The new Toffees boss Marco Silva should not let him depart Goodison Park at all costs as the goalie remains a key member of their first-team setup.

Silva also has the likes of Joel Robles, Maarten Stekelenburg and Mateusz Hewelt to choose from but none of these keepers are ready to play in the English top tier on a weekly basis. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Pickford and whether he ends up sealing a move away from Goodison Park this summer.
