Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is attracting interest from Norwich City and Bristol City ahead of a potential move in the summer. According to recent reports, the Canaries have joined the race to sign the United youngster this summer amidst speculation linking him with a move to the Ashton Gate Stadium.
It is believed that Bristol boss Lee Johnson has caught the English starlet in action while he was on loan playing for Shrewsbury Town in the last campaign. He has put in a number of excellent performances for the Shrews during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed. Some sources are now claiming that Norwich City are ready to battle it out with Bristol City in pursuit of Henderson’s signature.
The Red Devils goalie had made 48 appearances for the Town last season, conceding 39 goals while 19 clean sheets in all competitions. His outstanding contributions on the pitch helped Paul Hurst’s side secure a route to the League One playoff final.
Henderson joined the United academy at the mere age of 14 but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the three-time European champions so far. It is high time that he left Old Trafford on a permanent transfer in search of more first-team opportunities somewhere else.
The Robins managed to secure an 11th placed finish in the Championship last season while the Canaries ended their campaign three spots lower at 14th place. For now, it seems like Bristol City has a better chance to secure a promotion spot next term but Daniel Farke’s team will also a fantastic destination for the young United keeper.
The addition of Henderson will definitely improve both clubs as they look to better their league performance next season. The Robins have the likes of Luke Steele and Frank Fielding competing for a place in Lee Johnson’s starting XI while the Norfolk club have goalies such as Angus Gunn and Michael McGovern vying for a starting berth in Farke’s first-team. The potential acquisition of Henderson will add more competition for places and improve their squad depth going into the new campaign.

At 21, the English wonderkid has massive potential which he can look to fulfil in the coming years but he will only be able to develop into a future star if he gets regular first-team opportunities. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Henderson and which club ends up securing his services this summer.
