Everton are plotting a move for West Ham United winger Marko Arnautovic this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues are looking to make a shock move for the Austrian international during this summer transfer period.
Some sources have recently claimed that the Merseyside club are ready to splash the cash under their new manager, Marco Silva. It is believed that the Portuguese boss is eager to strengthen his options at Goodison Park ahead of the new campaign and Arnautovic fits the bill perfectly.
The addition of the Austrian international will add more firepower up top and provide sufficient cover for Cenk Tosun. The Toffees struggled to score enough goals during the course of last season, especially under their previous manager, Sam Allardyce which indicates that they need to spend big this summer to add more squad depth. Recent reports have also suggested that it would cost Everton around £50m to prise him away from the London Stadium.
The Austrian international had a sensational campaign and was the standout player for the Hammers last season. He had put in a number of match-winning performances for the East London club during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed. Arnautovic had made 35 appearances for West Ham, scoring 11 goals while notching up with 8 assists across all competitions.
The Blues of Merseyside had a mediocre campaign last season as they could only manage an 8th placed finish in the English top-flight. They would now be looking to improve under Marco Silva going into the season. However, the Portuguese manager is no miracle worker and will need help to bring in some quality players during this ongoing transfer window.
The potential acquisition of Arnautovic will undoubtedly bolster Silva’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Everton have a whole host of attacking talents such as Wayne Rooney, Cenk Tosun, Theo Walcott, Yannick Bolasie, Oumar Niasse and Dominic Calvert-Lewin competing for a starting berth in their first XI. The addition of Arnautovic will definitely improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Toffees squad.

At 29, the Austrian still has a few years left in him to play at a high level which the Merseyside outfit could look to utilise in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Arnautovic and whether he ends up plying his trade at Goodison Park in the upcoming campaign.
