Leeds United are inching closer towards appointing Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager this summer. According to recent reports, the Argentine coach’s agent has confirmed that his client is currently in talks with the West Yorkshire club over the possibility of taking over the helm at Elland Road in the coming weeks.
The Peacocks parted ways with Paul Heckingbottom on Friday, less than four months after he took charge of the Yorkshire club. The ex-Barnsley boss just managed to secure 4 victories in 16 matches which led to his sacking. Leeds finished their disappointing season in the 13th position of the league table last season. It has now emerged that Marcelo Bielsa is the favourite to fill the vacant managerial position at the West Yorkshire club.
Some sources have recently claimed that “conversations are in progress” and initial talks over a deal to bring the Argentine coach to the Whites have already started. With Bielsa tipped to take over at Elland Road, let’s take a look at three players he could look to recruit this summer.
Steven Whittaker
The Hibernian full-back has lit up the Scottish top-flight with some solid performances last season. The Scottish international had made 31 appearances for Hibs last season, scoring twice while providing five assists in all competitions. He has a useful knack for creating and scoring goals from the right-back position which could be an ideal asset for the Peacocks going into the future.
Issa Diop
The 21-year-old centre-back is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 and has put in a number of outstanding performances for FC Toulouse last season. Diop had featured in 40 matches for the French team and has 3 goals and one assist to his name across all competitions. At the mere of 21, Diop has a lot of potential and can be a future star for Leeds if given the opportunity to showcase his talents in English football. He will be an ideal long-term solution for the West Yorkshire club and his addition to the Peacocks’ squad would go a long way in helping them build for a bigger and brighter future at Elland Road.

Thierry Ambrose
The Dutch Eredivisie forward has been in excellent form for NAC Breda last season and is exactly the kind of talent that the Whites could benefit from. The French starlet had featured in 31 matches for the Dutch side last season, scoring 10 goals while creating 6 assists in all competitions. At 21, Ambrose has shown a lot of promise to grow and develop his game and become a future star at West Yorkshire.
