Real Madrid are being touted to make a move for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp this summer following the resignation of Zinedine Zidane yesterday. According to recent reports, the Reds are bracing themselves for an approach from Los Blancos for their German boss in the coming weeks.
The 50-year-old still has four years remaining on his current contract at Anfield so the Champions League finalists will be under no pressure to part ways with their German gaffer. Some sources have recently claimed that Klopp’s attacking approach to football is something that appeals to the Galacticos president Florentino Perez, who is currently looking for a new manager after the surprise resignation of Zidane earlier this week.
Klopp has still not secured a trophy with Liverpool but his ‘heavy metal’ style of play has seen him become a fan favourite at Merseyside. Hence, it is expected that the English giants would do everything in their power to keep hold of his services for the coming years.
The German tactician managed to lead the Reds to a fourth-placed finish in the English top-flight last season. However, his team suffered a heart-breaking loss at the hands of Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final which was held in Kiev last weekend. It marked his third consecutive cup final defeat with the Reds since taking over the club in October 2015. The loyal Kopites around the world were left disappointed once again after seeing their team not taste success since their League Cup triumph under Kenny Dalglish back in 2012.
It’s high time that the Merseyside club managed to secure some silverware but the belief is still there amongst the Liverpool fans that Klopp can deliver something special in the new few years.
The Stuttgart-born manager has taken charge of 155 matches for the Reds, winning 81, drawing 44 and losing 30 of those matches with a healthy PPG (Points Per Game) average of 1.85. He will definitely be a major coup for the reigning European champions if they can pull off such a move this summer. However, as of now, it seems like a story to fill the papers as Klopp is still adamant to taste success with Liverpool.
