Manchester United youngster Joel Pereira could make a switch away from Old Trafford this summer. According to recent reports, the Portuguese goalie is wanted by a whole host of clubs from Italy and Spain ahead of a potential move out of Manchester during this summer transfer period.
The United starlet is currently Jose Mourinho’s third-choice goalkeeping option at the club. Some sources are now claiming that La Liga teams which include Real Betis, Sevilla and Real Sociedad along with Serie A sides such as Torino, Atalanta and Fiorentina are all keeping tabs on his situation at Manchester.
It has also been suggested that the Red Devils have received a lot of enquiries from foreign clubs regarding a potential loan switch for the Portuguese Under-21 international in the summer. Pereira is eager to secure more first-team opportunities next season and is open to make the ideal move ahead of the new campaign. The Portuguese joined the Manchester outfit in the summer of 2012 and has had loan spells at Rochdale and Belenenses during the course of his United career.
He has just made 3 senior team appearances at Old Trafford so far and was limited to just 12 minutes of first-team football last season when he came off the bench to replace Sergio Romero in the 4-1 victory versus Burton Albion in the League Cup back in September last year.
The Reds of Manchester finished their league campaign as the runners-up in the English top tier but it was a nevertheless an under-par season without trophies for them which will be a cause for concern for their loyal supporters. Hence, the Special One should look to recruit some much-needed reinforcements in this summer transfer window if his team are to compete for top honours in the upcoming campaign.
Retaining some of their top talents could go a long way in helping them close the gap to Manchester City as they look to mount a title challenge next year. However, keeping someone like Pereira at the club does not make sense considering he is already quite low down the United pecking order behind the likes of David De Gea and Sergio Romero.
