Liverpool are ready to make a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues goalie is set to leave Stamford Bridge during this summer transfer period with the Reds ready to pounce on his signature. It is believed that the Belgian international is keen on making a switch away from West London in search of newer challenges.
The London outfit has still not managed to convince the Belgian into penning a new, long-term deal so far and some sources are now claiming that Jurgen Klopp’s side are prepared to turn their attention to Courtois in their efforts to address some of the goalkeeping issues facing them, ahead of the new season.
Both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have been guilty of making some crucial errors during the course of last season which was highlighted once again when the former made some catastrophic mistakes which ended up costing Liverpool their 6th European Trophy. The Merseyside club suffered a heart-breaking 3-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the final of the UEFA Champions League last weekend.
Klopp is expected to sign a new keeper in this ongoing transfer window in an attempt to mount a realistic title challenge in the English top-flight next term. The addition of Courtois will definitely bolster the German’s goalkeeping options at Anfield.
Liverpool have the likes of Loris Karius, Simon Mignolet, Adam Bogdan and Danny Ward competing to be the club’s number one goalie. The potential acquisition of Courtois will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within Klopp’s squad and if the move materializes, the Belgian will surely enter the starting eleven straight away.
The 26-year-old had made 46 appearances under Antonio Conte last season, conceding 47 goals while keeping 19 clean sheets across all competitions. He has also earned 55 international caps for the Belgian national team so far in his career. The Belgian is currently preparing for the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off in Russia this month.

With his current contract set to run out in the summer of 2019, Chelsea might look to cash in on him in the coming months rather than risk losing him for free next summer. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Courtois and whether he ends up making a switch to Anfield this summer.
