Leeds United had another disappointing campaign when they only managed to claim a 13th placed finish in the Skybet Championship standings last season. The Peacocks have already parted ways with Garry Monk and Thomas Christiansen over the past year which means that they should at least give a full season to their current gaffer, Paul Heckingbottom as he looks to earn a promotion spot in the upcoming campaign.
The 40-year-old has already proven in the past that he has what it takes to cut the mustard in the second tier of English football during his time at Barnsley. He also managed to stabilise the Leeds ship in the second half of last season when Christiansen was sacked by the club following a run of poor results.
It might finally be a time of continuity at Elland Road as Heckingbottom has the potential to help them bounce back to the summit of English football. However, the Barnsley born boss would need more support financially in this ongoing transfer period as he looks to strengthen the Peacocks squad ahead of the new season.
During his playing days, the Leeds manager had a mostly successful career as a left-back, with spells at teams which included the likes of Norwich City, Bradford City, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley. Following his retirement, Heckingbottom returned to Oakwell as a coach in their development setup, before transitioning into the role of a caretaker boss in February 2015, taking over the helm from Danny Wilson.
Paul Heckingbottom arrived at Elland Road in the first week of February from Barnsley but has failed to turn their fortunes for the better so far. The 40-year-old coach has taken charge of 16 matches for the Peacocks since his appointment but has managed to win just four games, draw eight and lose eight of those 18 matches with a mediocre PPG (Points Per Game) average of 1.00.
Heckingbottom needs to bring in some quality reinforcements in the summer if the West Yorkshire side are to challenge for top honours next term. He needs to revamp his squad and make some clever acquisitions which will be easier said than done.

It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Heckingbottom and whether he can turn things around at Elland Road and have a successful season with the Peacocks this year if the club decides to retain his services beyond this summer.
