Middlesbrough missed out on Premier League qualification after they lost to Aston Villa in the playoff semi-final and as result, they might lose some of their key members of the squad if a Premier League club comes looking for their signature. One such name is Adama Traore who has been previously linked to top division clubs like Chelsea and Everton but now it seems that Newcastle United have joined the race to sign the former Barcelona winger.
According to reports, the winger could be available on a cut-price deal now as the Teessiders have failed to qualify for the English Premier League. There were rumours that Boro will demand £30m for the player but now he can be available for as less as £15m. The 22-year-old has been one of the most important players for Pulis on the attacking front but if there are concrete offers from the top flight clubs then he can lose out on his influential winger.
Traore managed 5 goals and 12 assists in all competitions. However, Boro fans would have wanted him to have more impact on the goals’ column. One can say that it is one of the shortcomings of his game as he often gets into a good position but doesn’t manage to get on the score sheet very often.
The midfielder previously had a stint in the English top flight but he was found wanting on most of the occasions. Over the years he has matured a bit and has improved his game. The midfielder was a regular starter for Tony Pulis down the right and he was a constant threat for the opponents due to his bursting pace and dribbling abilities. He always seems to have that moment of magic to his game but he needs to do the basics right more often.
Newcastle United will be looking to add attacking reinforcements in the summer as they have struggled to find the back of the net regularly. They can also lose the services of Kenedy if they don’t sign him on a permanent basis from Chelsea.

The signing of Traore will definitely boost their options but the midfielder is still raw and sometimes makes naive decisions in the final third. However, he certainly can be a good player under the right coach and a manager like Rafael Benitez might be able to bring out the best in him.
