Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers admitted that Kieran Tierney might leave the Glasgow-based outfit in the future. The 20-year-old has been wooed by a number of elite teams from Europe over the course of the 2017/18 season. Instead, Tierney chose to sign a contract extension, promising to serve the club till the summer of 2023 and put all transfer rumours to bed.
When asked about a potential move to the Premier League, the 20-year-old earlier revealed, “I’m not thinking of anyone other than Celtic just now. I’m enjoying my career here. I’ve just signed a six-year deal, so if that doesn’t say long-term I don’t know what does.”
To many, this might be seen as a massive boost for the Hoops faithful but the celebrations can only last so long. As far as what we have seen of the left-back, Tierney can someday play for some of the biggest clubs in world football.
He might be a loyal fan of the club and is highly favoured by the current manager but more lucrative deals from some of the continental big guns will be hard to resist.
After all, Tierney could possibly be named as one of the best players in the current Celtic squad, despite his young age. The starlet has not only filled in at the Bhoys backline, he also managed to chime in with 11 assists last campaign.
He also contributed on the offensive end with 4 goals from his 52 appearances. He has earned rave reviews from fans and critics and has certainly earned his starting spot in the Hoops’ lineup. The fullback is not just talented but equally hard working and has a bright future ahead of him.
He can do so much more than just offer traditional service from the left and intercept plays when needed. Tierney is as technical as midfielders go these days and has the eye for creating moves on his own.
He is disciplined with his positioning and challenges. Staying forward to provide width is almost second in nature to him, as seen in almost every single fullback in the modern game. Tierney has the potential to break massive strides with one of the more elite sides of Europe.
If a transfer is agreed to, both by the club and the player himself, it is almost certain to fetch the Scottish outfit a giant transfer fee. This could help Rodgers find an able replacement and find ways to improve the squad further.

For the time being, the Celtic fans can rest easy knowing that their defensive ace will stay with them at least for another season. He is still in the middle of a development process, which could get hampered if a transfer is rushed at this stage of his career.
