Manchester United are interested in securing the signature of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are plotting a €140m move for the Welsh international during this summer transfer period.
Bale was the hero of Los Blancos’ 13th Champions League triumph last weekend when they defeated Liverpool with a 3-1 scoreline. After the match, the Welshman addressed his future and was quoted to have said, “I have to sit down with my agent and make a decision.”
Bale’s recent comments could give the Reds of Manchester enough encouragement to make an offer for his services this summer. United boss Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign and Bale fits the bill perfectly. Some sources are now claiming that Mourinho’s team are ready to pay a fee in the region of €140m and also triple Bale’s current salary (€11m) by offering him a net salary in excess of €30m.
However, it is believed that the Manchester outfit are not the only ones looking to recruit the Welshman with Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich also keeping tabs on his situation at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The 28-year-old had made 39 appearances for the Galacticos last season, scoring 21 goals while grabbing 8 assists in all competitions.
Manchester United had a trophyless campaign last term which could mean that the Special One will be desperate to bring in some quality reinforcements this summer so that his side can challenge for major honours once again in the near future.
The addition of Bale will undoubtedly bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season. United have a whole host of attacking talents such as Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford competing for a place in the Red Devils’ starting XI. The potential acquisition of a world-beater like Bale will definitely improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within Mourinho’s squad.

At 28, the Welshman still has his peak years ahead of him which United could look to utilise in the coming years. Bale is also quite versatile and can operate on either flank or in the number 10 position which makes him a perfect fit for Mourinho’s United. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the Welsh international and whether he ends up plying his trade at Old Trafford next term.
