Tottenham Hotspur have been forced to look into alternatives for Ryan Sessegnon after Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League. The 18-year-old is expected to stay at Craven Cottage for at least one more season. Mauricio Pochettino, therefore, has turned his attention to the Borussia Dortmund winger, Christian Pulisic, who is just a year older than the Whites player and also an established United States international.
Pulisic is one of the brightest talents to come out of the Bundesliga and is already touted to be a future star in Europe. He has put in remarkable displays over the course of the 2017/18 season to attract interest from some of the biggest clubs in world football.
The 19-year-old appeared in 42 games last term to score 5 goals while furthering another 3 assists. Blessed with blinding pace on the wings, Pulisic can take on defenders on the dribble and also set up plays on his own.
He can appear on either side of the pitch and in the central attacking midfield role as well. The Pennsylvania-born player has the technical ability and vision to take up a more creative role judging by his performances for the German outfit, after the departure of Ousmane Dembele last summer.
Pochettino is on the hunt for a pacey wide man to get his team’s offence even sharper. Pulisic could be perfect for the Argentine’s requirements.
Spurs already have world-class options in Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Heung-min Son but none other than the latter can really play in the wide positions.
Pulisic will be able to spread the floor and give Pochettino another attacking option to look for. Kane could also use some more supply from the wings to help keep up his scoring count.
Lucas Moura is yet to find his rhythm at the North London club and Erik Lamela is better suited centrally. Moussa Sissoko has failed to replicate his heroics from his Newcastle United days and is more of a squad player than a cemented starter.
Pochettino needs a prolific star to help chase silverware next season. The White Hart Lane-based outfit has been exposed last season due to the lack of squad depth. They made a brilliant run in the UEFA Champions League by topping their group but eventually got knocked out by Juventus in the Round of 16.
They lost out to Manchester United as well, in the FA Cup Semi-Finals and managed to grab the fourth spot in the Premier League.

Pulisic can certainly be convinced into making a move towards North London after the club agreed to sign Pochettino to a new 5-year contract. His intentions to stay long-term gives players a massive confidence boost and can be the key to bringing in newer talents to the club.
