Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on the progress of Blackburn Rovers youngster Jake Garrett ahead of a potential move this summer. According to recent reports, the Eagles are monitoring the development of the English defender and could make a move for him during this summer transfer period. However, they are not the only teams looking to recruit the promising teenager with Manchester United, Leicester City, Watford, Fulham and Leeds United also tracking Garrett’s progress at Lancashire.
He can be considered as one of the most talented teenage centre-backs in English football and has already represented the Blackburn Rovers Under-18 side at the mere age of 15. Garrett has also put in a number of outstanding performances for the England Under-15 side which has attracted the attention of a whole host of clubs which includes the Eagles. Some sources have also claimed that the Riversiders want to retain Garrett’s services for the long run as they look to build for a bigger and better future at Ewood Park.
The English youngster is comfortable with the ball at his feet and is also equally adept while defending which makes him an ideal asset for Blackburn. Only time will tell whether Palace can fend off strong competition in pursuit of the England Under-15 international’s signature this summer.
The Eagles managed to secure an 11th placed finish in the English top-flight last season and had a brilliant domestic campaign under Roy Hodgson. However, the former England manager still needs to bring in some top-class talent this summer in order to avoid the drop and push for a European place in the upcoming season.
The potential acquisition of Garrett will undoubtedly bolster the Palace youth squad going into the new campaign. The English teenager has massive potential and could be a future star in the top tier of English football. However, the youngster still needs to work hard on his game and develop in the coming years so that he can break into the Palace first-team when he is ready.
