West Ham United have been given a massive boost in their summer transfer plans as FC Porto has reportedly made Moussa Marega available for sale. The Portuguese outfit have placed a €30m asking price for Marega who has another two years left on his current contract.
Earlier reports claimed that scouts from 10 different Premier League clubs were spotted in the 2017/18 Primeira Liga fixture between FC Porto and SL Benfica at the Estadio De Luz. Among the noticeable players on the pitch, Moussa Marega was anticipated to be one of the hot targets with ongoing interests confirming the rumour.
The Malinese forward has appeared in 40 games for Porto this season and has racked up an impressive tally of 23 goals and 8 assists. He has a formidable partnership with Vincent Aboubakar upfront and can play from anywhere in the final third.
Marega has resurrected his career to attractive standards last season after spending 2016/17 campaign out on loan to Vitoria de Guimaraes. He has already been capped 13 times for Mali scoring once against Benin in the 2017 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers.
The 27-year-old has mostly been made to appear in the shadow striker role by Sergio Conceicao but Marega has made his presence felt from the flanks and the number nine role as well. His turn of pace and athletic presence is capable of making a mark in the English game, his versatility being a major factor in his newfound success.
Whether West Ham will go the length to sign one of the hottest properties in Portuguese football remains to be seen. Marega might just be willing to make his way over to the Premier League since it will promise him a significantly improved payday.
He is on a scoring run which could be brought into the top-flight next season by the Hammers. West Ham have disappointed for the majority of the 2017/18 season but still managed to carve out a safe spot in the league table.
They have also made massive statement after signing Manuel Pellegrini to a £10m-a-year contract earlier this week. The decorated manager is bound to improve upon the team’s past season performances and will be looking to bring in some fresh blood to do so.
However, Marega does not need to be a priority signing. The strike position is already filled with names such as Marko Arnautovic, Javier Chicharito Hernandez, Andy Carroll and Jordan Hugill.

Maybe the money can be better spent in bringing in more necessary signings, like a winger for instance.
