Manchester United are interested in making a move for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are hoping to secure the services of the Croatian international during this summer transfer period. It is believed that Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his options ahead of the new season and the Croatian centre-forward is one of the names on his summer wish-list.
Mandzukic had a terrific campaign at the Juventus Stadium last season and has been one of Allegri’s standout performers, especially in the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League. His outstanding contributions have not gone unnoticed with some sources claiming that Mourinho is eager to bring him to Old Trafford and give his squad a boost going into the new season.
The 32-year-old had featured in 43 matches for Juve last season, scoring 10 goals while creating 4 assists in all competitions. Among those 10 goals, 4 of them came in the Champions League which indicates that he can still be an ideal squad player for any of his potential suitors in the near future. Mandzukic has also earned 82 international caps for the Croatian national team and has 30 international goals to his name so far.
The Reds of Manchester had a poor season under Mourinho which ended in a disappointing fashion last weekend when they lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup final by the odd goal. They need to recruit wisely this summer and bring in some quality players who can help them compete for silverware in the upcoming campaign.
The potential acquisition of Mandzukic will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s attacking options at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have an array of attacking talents such as Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and Anthony Martial competing for a starting berth in Mourinho’s first-eleven.
