A host of clubs including some of the Premier League giants are after Hamburg’s 17-year-old fullback Josha Vagnoman. The defender recently became the second youngest player to make an appearance in the Bundesliga when he featured against Bayern Munich. Along with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, Everton are also in the mix to bring this talented fullback at their club.
Everton currently doesn’t have that much depth in the full-back department and one can understand why they are after this talented German youngster. The 17-year-old defender is traditionally a left back but can turn out as a right back as well. The Toffees currently depend on the services of Leighton Baines who is soon going to be 34.
A fullback’s role is one of the most demanding jobs in modern day football as he is expected to bomb forward when the team is attacking and dart back when the team is on the backfoot and one cannot expect the veteran English fullback to carry on for long.
Vagnoman is Hamburg’s youth product and has slowly graduated towards senior team football. He featured in every game for Germany in the u-17 World cup which was held in India and he has gone from strength to strength since then and now a host of clubs are vying for his signature.
Everton were setting out for a breakthrough season last campaign. They brought in some proven talents for good money and had a highly rated manager like Ronald Koeman at their disposal. However, the Dutchman failed to work his magic and he was soon shown the door. Sam Allardyce took over from him in November and guided the team to a respectable 8th place finish. But the Toffees management decided to let Big Sam go as they are looking for a new beginning.
It will be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club will be able to lure him with many of the top clubs looking for his signature. The Toffees have shown ambition in the transfer market in the last few windows and one cannot count them out. But the youngster might end up preferring to play for a team who are challenging regularly for the domestic title and play in European competitions.

Vagnoman has every attribute which a modern day full-back requires. He is strongly built and is athletic and can be helpful for his team at both ends of the pitch. A signing like him will certainly boost Everton’s squad but only time will tell whether he will choose to make a switch at Goodison Park.
