Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic has reportedly been linked with a move to Merseyside giants Liverpool. The English team who are due to play in the European final this weekend are managed by German boss Jurgen Klopp. It is now being reported that Klopp wants to raid his former team and sign their star Christian Pulisic. The Reds could launch a bid as high as £53million this summer for the American winger.
Pulisic was recently asked about an impending move to Liverpool. Whether he will move or not, Pulisic preferred to remain coy about that. Although he did talk about his life at Dortmund and how much he needs to work on his own game.
“Of course, I am still finishing my season strong with Dortmund. I’ve been happy here all season. I’ve enjoyed the game. Which is most important. I am looking forward to having a good break this summer.”
“There have been a lot of ups and downs this season but it gave me a lot of time to look back and learn. As an attacking player I am trying to become more clinical, whether its’ the final pass or shot. I still have a long way to go, but it’s a step in the right direction.”
ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno talked about the move and chipped in on the debate on where Pulisic should go by saying that the winger would do better to remain at Dortmund.
“In my estimation, he would be better served staying at Borussia Dortmund and continuing to grow there at Borussia Dortmund,” Moreno said. “Once he becomes the full version of himself, whatever that is, then take that jump.”
Pulisic is a typical modern-day winger. He is fast and technically gifted. He has the pace to run past any defender and a battery to keep doing it for ninety minutes. The player is supremely confident on the ball and likes to take on defenders.
He has a knack for making the most of even the smallest of opportunities which has seen him score plenty of goals from the wings. Should he make the move to Liverpool, he will be perfectly fitted into a team who likes to play fast.
However, the player is unlikely to get a first-team spot with the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane on the wings and maybe should develop more at Dortmund instead of making a move this summer. Also, we wonder whether it would be wise from Liverpool’s perspective to spend £53m on a player who would not be guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.
