Latest reports claim that Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers has entered negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for the permanent transfer of Odsonne Edouard. The 20-year-old has impressed during his loan spell at Parkhead and the former Liverpool manager is insistent on keeping him for the future.
Edouard was unfortunate enough to pick up a serious hamstring injury in the 3-1 win over Hearts earlier this month. Edouard netted the ball 11 times this campaign during his 29 appearances for the Hoops while also managing 4 assists. That is an impressive tally for a youngster who is behind Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths in the pecking order.
Dembele still holds priority over the rest of the strikers in the starting XI, closely followed by the left-footed Griffith. Rodgers has done well to rotate around the trio and this, in turn, has accelerated the development of Edouard.
Competition churns the best out of young talents like the Frenchman, who constantly has to prove his worth to the manager and the Celts fans. After all competing for major honours requires a fully healthy team.
Celtic have just registered their second consecutive domestic treble after beating Motherwell 2-0 in the Scottish Cup final. They maintain their dominance in the top-flight and as per Rodgers’ words, plan on making an impact in the European stage next term.
The 45-year-old head coach was quoted, “We have to invest and improve. But the reality is that we can’t spend fortunes because there’s not masses of money there to do that. We can’t go and spend £110 or £120m”
“I need to push even harder now next year in relation to developing the players here first and foremost. And then bringing in players who can make a difference. There’s a constant need to improve. We have a really young group that are improving and developing, but to make a difference at that level needs greater quality.”
It is only his second full year in management of the Hoops and Rodgers has already won 6 trophies. He has put together an incredibly young squad filled with a lot of potential.
Edouard is very much a part of that illustrious process. He has won the hearts of the fans at Celtic Park and seems to get along great with his teammates.

His chances of development are next to none at the French capital with stars like Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe in the squad. So it sounds like a very good move for both the Hoops and Odsonne Edouard if it goes through.
