Swansea City has officially parted ways with Carlos Carvalhal as he was unable to keep them in the English top flight. He was appointed in December and we did see some good results from the Swans but in the end, it wasn’t good enough for them to stay up.
This was Swansea’s fifth managerial casualty in the last two and a half years and the club will be looking for stability as they make their way to the Championship. Swansea’s run for promotion was derailed when they lost the crucial encounter against fellow relegation-threatened Southampton at home. Until then, they were in with a good chance to stay up in the Premier League.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins said regarding Carvalhal,“We’d like to put on record our thanks to Carlos for his enthusiasm, hard work and commitment since arriving at the club in December.’
He further added,”Naturally, we are all disappointed with the club’s relegation from the Premier League, and following discussions with Carlos, we felt it was in the best interests of both parties that we move in a new direction.’’
With the top job at Liberty stadium vacant, we look at three possible replacements which Swansea City go after.
Craig Shakespeare
He was Claudio Ranieri’s right-hand man when Leicester City did the unthinkable and won the Premier League. He even went on to manage the Foxes when Ranieri struggled in the season after the triumph. Currently, he is the first team coach at Everton and will probably be available if a club like Swansea come in for him for the top job.
Paul Lambert
He was recently appointed by Stoke City in January to resurrect their slide. However, the Potters were not able to save themselves as they went down. Lambert did a good job since he came in and he is probably not to be blamed that they went down. The former Scottish international has good experience as he has managed a handful of clubs in the Championship and Premier League and could be the man for the Swans to them back to the English top flight.

Lee Johnson
The Bristol City manager had a great start to the season and his team were in with a good chance to qualify for the playoffs. They had just lost 3 games in the first 24 matches but a loss of form in the latter half of the season saw them finish eleventh.
