Wolves midfield star Ruben Neves played an instrumental role in their qualification to the Premier League. He was signed for a club record fee and he surely delivered in his first season and played like he has been meant to play at the Molineux.
The West Midlands club secured the Championship title with relative comfort in the end and their manager Nuno Santo deserves a huge credit for that. The manager surely must have played a huge part in bringing in the midfielder from Portuguese giants Porto to an English second division side and now with promotion and title in the bag, he must be hoping that Neves will stick with the club for next few years as well.
However, after such an eye-catching performance, he is bound to be linked with some Premier League clubs and according to latest reports, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are currently the favourites to get him if he makes the switch away from Molineux stadium. Since the season has ended, Neves has been heckled with questions about his future and on numerous occasions, he has gone on to mention that he is going to stay with his current club. Neves was nominated for EFL player of the year award but he was beaten to it by Fulham’s young prodigy Ryan Sessegnon.
In a recent interview, he said,” Right now it’s not good for me to risk a way out. I feel very good at Wolverhampton, I have no reason to leave because I’m going to play in the best league in the world. The fans already know me, the club too and everyone knows what I can do for the club..’’
He further went on to add,’’ I spent a great year there and I love playing at Wolverhampton. Therefore, I have no interest in going out, because it’s the best for me and for my future.”
Neves hasn’t been picked for the upcoming World Cup for his national team Portugal and he will be desperate to show in the next season what the Portuguese national team is missing out on.

As Neves said he certainly doesn’t need to take any risk by leaving the Championship winners. However, if he keeps churning performances like he did in the last season, he is likely to go to a big club in the future. At present, he should stick with the Wolves because he is their star man and at other big clubs he will probably have to bide his time before he gets a regular playing opportunity.
