Robert Lewandowski has indicated to Bayern Munich that he wants to leave the Bavarian giants and it is believed that a host of top clubs in Europe are gunning for his signature. Reports in the media are confirming that the Polish striker has met his agent Pini Zahavi regarding this matter as well.
His agent has done little to diffuse the rumours and this is what he had said earlier: “I am glad that Robert decided to co-operate with me. I will do everything to work well in his name. He is a great footballer. He is the best striker in the world. Therefore, it is not surprising that I have signals about the interest of his person in all major clubs. Will Robert go to Real Madrid? We’ll see. Now it’s time for me to do my job.”
The 29-year-old could well be on the way out and that means Bayern will have to find a suitable alternative to lead their line in the next season. Here are three players we feel Bayern can target to bolster their squad this summer if Lewandowski does leave.
Mauro Icardi
The 25-year-old Argentine striker plays for Italian side Inter Milan. He has been instrumental for the Nerazzurri. He has scored 28 goals in 35 games this season and has been talismanic upfront. He is a quality striker who can dribble with the ball and play a little deeper as well. He will be a good choice up front for Bayern who will need a player who can link up their midfield with the attack and Icardi would be an ideal choice for that.
Alvaro Morata
The Chelsea hitman is a former Real Madrid and Juventus player. The Spaniard has played for big clubs in the past but has never been able to establish himself as a first-team star. At Chelsea, he was given the chance but the player has failed to deliver the goods in his first season at the club. If Lewandowski is snapped up by Chelsea, the player could be on the move to the other side.
