West Ham United boss David Moyes’ contract hasn’t been extended after he took them to safety in the Premier League with two games to spare in the end. The Scotsman took over in November when Slaven Bilic was sacked. The team was in the relegation zone at that point in time but Moyes slowly but steadily took the team to a position of comfort and finished at a respectable 13th position.
West Ham Chairman David Sullivan explained why he didn’t appoint the former Manchester United manager on a long-term basis. He said,’’ When David and his team arrived, it was the wish of both parties that the focus be only on the six months until the end of the season, at which point a decision would be made with regards to the future.’’
Regarding his new manager he said,’’ We feel that it is right to move in a different direction. We aim to appoint a high-calibre figure who we feel will lead the club into an exciting future for our loyal supporters within the next 10 days.’’
With the top job at London stadium empty, we look at three managers which West Ham can bring in for the next season.
Paulo Fonseca:
The Portuguese mastermind has taken the Ukranian league by storm when he guided his team Shakhtar Donetsk to a treble in his first season. That made him worthy of the Manager of the Year award in his debut season and this season as well his team has done well and they took everyone by surprise when they made through to the round of 16 of the Champions League from a tough group which consisted the likes of Manchester City, Feyenoord and Napoli.
The reports are currently hot that the Shakhtar manager flew into England to have a meeting with David Sullivan regarding the vacant managerial position at the club. He certainly will bring a breath of fresh air at the club as he likes to possession based high tempo football.
Manuel Pellegrini
The former Manchester City manager is currently managing in the Chinse Super League with Hebei China Fortune and will probably want to return to the Premier League if a club like West Ham come into the picture. He did pretty well during his stint with Manchester City as he delivered the League title and a couple of League cups as well. When he left the club in 2016, his win percentage was the fifth highest in the Premier League history.

Unai Emery
The Former PSG manager has an impressive record with Sevilla where he guided them to three back to back Europa League titles. He delivered the domestic title with the French heavyweights but his failure in the Champions League probably cost him his job. The fact that the chairman has indicated that they are looking for some high calibre options, certainly makes him one of the prime candidates for the job at the London Stadium.
