Chelsea are looking to secure the signature of Bayern Munich centre-forward Robert Lewandowski this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues are lining up a move for the Polish international when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is understood that the player has held a meeting with his super-agent Pini Zahavi as he weighs up his options for an exit from the Allianz Arena in this upcoming transfer period.
Some sources are claiming that the veteran Bayern Munich striker has made his intentions known that he wants to leave the German outfit in search of more challenging adventures with Chelsea and Real Madrid both ready to battle it out for his signature. However, the Bavarian side are not willing to let him leave as he is their top-scorer from last season. Moreover, Lewandowski still has three years remaining on his current contract with Bayern.
The player’s new Israeli agent, Zahavi has close ties to Chelsea which could pave the way for the striker to join the West London club in the post-season. The 29-year-old has featured in 47 matches for the Bundesliga giants this season, scoring 40 goals while creating 5 assists in all competitions.
One of the club chiefs, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge addressed rumours linking the Polish forward with a summer move and was quoted to have said, “Nobody needs to worry about Robert Lewandowski and his relationship with Bayern Munich.
“We have a very good one.
“We know what we have in Robert Lewandowski.
“I’m very happy that we still have such a long-term contract.
“No one needs to think about it. He will play for Bayern Munich next season, too.
“He’s one of the best centre-forwards in the world. The numbers prove it every year.
“If he doesn’t score a goal in a few games now and then, that’s not a problem.”
The Blues of London finished their league campaign with a bitter 3-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United last weekend. Antonio Conte’s men missed out on Champions League football for next season and are now preparing for a crucial FA Cup final versus Manchester United on Saturday.
The addition of Lewandowski will definitely bolster the club’s attacking options ahead of the new season. Chelsea have forwards such as Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata competing for a place in their first-team. The potential acquisition of Lewandowski will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Blues’ squad.

At 29, the Polish centre-forward still has a few years left in him to play at a high level which Chelsea could look to benefit from in the years to come. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Lewandowski and whether he ends up making a switch to Stamford Bridge this summer.
