Newcastle United are keen on extending Kenedy’s loan spell for the next season as well. The Brazilian winger was set to return to his parent club Chelsea in the summer but it seems that the Tyneside club will once again have him on loan for another year.
Newcastle United have certainly punched above their weight in the recently concluded Premier League campaign. They were expected to fight a relegation battle but Rafael Benitez’s men finished in the top half of the table and are looking for reinforcements in the summer to continue their climb in English football. Their season was built on the back of strong defensive performances and they will be looking to continue that while looking to add more firepower to their attack by bringing in reinforcements in the summer.
Kenedy has stated his happiness about his spell at Newcastle. He said,”I’m really glad to be here. And the club – they have helped me with everything. The city is very good too.And now, I am a fan of Newcastle’s fans. They are amazing. At first when I came, OK, but when I saw the game against Leicester, it was something amazing, and here against Arsenal as well.”
“I’m a fan of them, not the other way around. When I come on to the [St James’ Park] pitch, I look at the fans and I’m just thinking: I cannot disappoint them. I have to give my best, 100 percent, and work hard for it – and never disappoint them.”- he further added.
Kenedy has been used down the left wing by Benitez and though he might not have set St.James’ Park on fire with his performances, he has put in a good shift whenever he has been on the pitch. At present, Chelsea might not able to accommodate him in the first eleven, so for his overall development, extending his loan spell with the Magpies is certainly the right way to go for the winger. He managed 3 goals and 5 assists in 19 appearances this season.

However, things can change if Chelsea loses out on some of their players in the summer transfer window and that can bring Kenedy back in contention for selection at Stamford Bridge. But even if that happens, it is highly likely that he will just be a squad player for them instead of a regular starter.
