Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to snub Chelsea and stay loyal to Tottenham Hotspur this summer. According to recent reports, the Argentine manager is ready to decline an opportunity of joining the Blues of London in favour of staying at the North London club. It is believed that Chelsea wants Pochettino to succeed Antonio Conte, who is set to depart Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Pochettino has recently hinted that his future at Spurs will depend on how much transfer funds he will be allocated during the summer transfer period after his team had another trophy-less season this term. He has recently suggested that the club and their chairman Daniel Levy needs to “take risks and be brave” if they are serious about winning some silverware in the coming years. The Spurs manager’s recent outburst indicates that the club needs to spend big in the upcoming transfer market and keep hold of their star players by offering them premier wages if they are to retain Pochettino’s services for the long-run.
Some sources are now claiming that Levy is ready to meet Pochettino’s demands in order to keep hold of his services. Recent reports suggest that the Argentine is happy at the North London club and is looking to carry on with his long-term project at Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur have finished their season in the 4th spot in the league rankings with a healthy tally of 77 points after 38 fixtures in the league. However, Pochettino’s team went another season without winning any major silverware which will be a cause for concern for the Spurs faithful.
Retaining their Argentine boss would be highly significant if the North Londoners are to challenge on all fronts next term. Pochettino has steadily managed to make progress in North London as he turned the club from Premier League strugglers to UEFA Champions League regulars over the last few years. They could be on the verge of winning some major trophies in the coming years but only if they can keep hold of Pochettino.
