The reign of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal has come to an end as the Gunners finished their last game of the season with a 0-1 win over Huddersfield Town. A fitting note to keep the Wenger’s legacy at North London alive by ending the team’s woeful losing streak away from home.
Aaron Ramsey found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang inside the box with a low cross after a brilliant run of play from the rest of the team. The Gabon international wasted no time in netting the difference maker. Here is how the Arsenal players were rated on the night.
David Ospina – 8/10
A superb display from the Colombian helped Arsenal gather all three points. He made a crucial save against Tom Ince’s powerful effort and was vigilant for the entire 90 minutes.
Hector Bellerin – 5/10
The Spaniard’s defensive efforts need to improve soon or else he might not have a starting spot for long. Otherwise, a major threat ogoing forward with his overlapping runs.
Rob Holding – 7/10
A solid outing by the 22-year-old despite not getting many starts in the regular season. Was quick to read the opposition attacks and was clinical with his tackling.
Shkodran Mustafi – 6/10
A decent showing. He managed to hold the backline steady instead of making those characteristic basic errors.
Sead Kolasinac – 6/10
Excellent while going forward and came close to scoring.
Granit Xhaka – 5/10
An usual toss up of good and bad. While some passes were delivered perfectly a few found its way into the opposition’s feet.
Not the most influential with possession either.
Aaron Ramsey – 7/10
A mastermind without the ball. His energetic runs were almost impossible to pick up by the Terriers defence as he got into dangerous positions. Ends the night with the perfect assist.
Alex Iwobi – 6/10
Held onto the ball well enough but not entirely convincing. Some of his passes were mishit.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 6/10
A key figure in almost every single one of Arsenal’s attacks but fell short in the final stretch. Made it count for the Aubameyang goal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 8/10
Just give him a tiny chance and he will turn it into pixie dust. His remarkable poacher like instinct got him the goal from close range.
Alexandre Lacazette – 6/10
Brilliantly fresh upon his arrival. Linked up the game well and gave the Terriers backline a distraction.
Substitutes:
Nacho Monreal – 4/10
Could not adjust to the pace of the game. Almost let the opposition score.
Danny Welbeck – 4/10
Poor finishing.
