West Ham United will be looking for reinforcements in the transfer market as they will try to make sure that they are not involved in a relegation scare next season. They are currently safe, going into the last game week, on the back of some good results as they picked up four crucial points in their last two games.
The Hammers are being linked with a move for Porto defender Miguel Layun who is currently on loan with the Spanish outfit Sevilla. The defender has done well in his short time in Spain and has managed 15 appearances and has scored twice for his team. The 29-year-old defender maybe offered a permanent move to Spain and for that, the Spanish club will have to shell out €5m for his services.
However, if Sevilla doesn’t get their man, West ham are in line to snap him up for next season. The defender moved to Sevilla in the January transfer window and it seems that he doesn’t have a future with the runaway Portuguese league winners Porto who will be looking to offload him in the summer.
The Mexican defender has already played in the Premier League before as he joined Watford in 2015 and he even managed to score on his Premier League debut. Layun is a versatile defender and can play the role of a left back as well as a right back. He can even be more attacking minded and has played in the right midfield position for his previous teams before.
West Ham will certainly love to have a versatile man like him in the defence and it is likely that he will play in the wingback position as David Moyes has preferred playing three at the back. His preferred position is down the right but he can play in the left wingback position for the Hammers as they might lose out Arthur Masuaku in the summer. Patrice Evra’s deal is also set to come to an end in the summer and Moyes will have some gaps to fill in the left back position.

Sevilla will certainly be the frontrunners to sign the Mexican as he has hit the ground running with them but West Ham can lure him with a better offer. He will certainly be a great option for Moyes to consider and with a little bit of Premier League experience already under his belt, this move certainly looks good on paper.
