Leeds United are being considered the frontrunners to snap up one of the League one Player of the Year candidate, Jack Marriott. The forward has been terrific for Peterborough United this season as he has scored 33 goals for them in all competitions and has helped his team finish ninth in League One.
Leeds United have struggled upfront as they have managed just 59 goals in their entire campaign and one would have expected a much better scoring record from the Peacocks. They changed their manager midterm and brought Paul Heckingbottom at the helm of the club, however, he has done little in the short time and he will be hoping to show everyone next season what he can bring to the table and how he can improve the current team.
The manager has indicated that his team will be in need of a surgery and will like to make few acquisitions in the transfer market. They certainly need to bolster their goalscoring options as the likes of Samuel Saiz, Kemar Roofe and others have failed to make an impact up front. An in-form signing like Marriott can certainly boost their chances for the next season.
The forward signed for Peterborough last year for an undisclosed fee from Luton Town and this was his first year in the third division of English football. He took the league by storm and is set to move to the higher division next season. His boss, Steve Evans has admitted that it will be tough to keep the English forward tied at the club after a season like that.
The Peacocks were expected to be fighting for the playoff spot this season and started off well as they were unbeaten in their first seven encounters under Thomas Christiansen. However, after a strung of bad results since the turn of the new year, the Danish manager was shown the door and the Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom took up the top job. However, he hasn’t been able to cover himself in glory but one cannot expect miracles in such a short time.

Their current squad certainly needs some improvement and the signing of Marriott will most definitely bring some depth to the squad and excitement among the fans as he has done so well this season.
