Arsenal are prepared to trigger Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski’s release clause as they attempt to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are lining up a big-money move for the Polish international when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that the North London outfit are ready to activate the Polish midfielder’s €65m (£57m) buy-out clause at the end of the season.
Zielinski has put in a number of solid performances for Napoli this season which has helped his side mount a strong title challenge in the Serie A. However, the Naples-based side are out of the title race going into the final few matches of the season which could mean that they lose some of their star players in the summer. Recent reports have revealed that a whole host of clubs are eyeing a move for the Polish midfield enforcer with Arsenal ready to pay his release clause.
The 23-year-old Ząbkowice Śląskie-born player has made 45 appearances for Maurizio Sarri’s team this term, scoring 7 goals while creating 3 assists across all competitions. At 23, the Polish international still has his peak years ahead of him which the Gunners could look to utilise in the coming years.
The Gunners are currently occupying in the 6th position in the league table with a total tally of 60 points after playing 37 games in the league so far. Although, it has been a poor season for Arsenal this term yet Arsene Wenger’s departure as the Gunners manager could see a period of change at the Emirates Stadium going into the new campaign.
The addition of Zielinski will undoubtedly bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season. The North London club have the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mohamed Elneny, Granit Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles competing for a place in their first-team. The potential acquisition of Zielinski will add more competition within the Arsenal squad and improve their team significantly next term.
