Everton are unbeaten in their last five games and will look to end the season on a positive note. They will be travelling to London to take on West Ham United in their final clash of the season. The Hammers are also coming on the back of some positive results as they have secured their position in the English top flight.
However, one would have expected more out of Everton this season as they made some big acquisitions in the summer transfer window. The new signings failed to gel together under Ronald Koeman and they were hovering around the relegation zone during the primary stages of the season. As a result, he was shown the door and since then Sam Allardyce has done a decent job to ensure a top half finish for the Merseyside club.
The limelight will be on the deemed to be outgoing English forward Wayne Rooney who could be playing his last game in the Premier League. He is supposed to join DC United and play in the MLS in the next season. One expected much better showing from the forward this season but it seems like he is past his prime at only 32 years.
Gylfi Sigurdsson, James McCarthy, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Eliaquim Mangala are out due to long-term injuries and Theo Walcott is also slightly doubtful. However, we expect him to shrug off the injury and start in this final game of the season.
Here is how Everton will be expected to line up.
Formation(4-2-3-1)
Defence:
Jordan Pickford has been one of the players of the season at Goodison Park and he will start between the sticks. He will be protected by the centre-back pairing of Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka. Keane had a poor start to the season but as time has progressed, he has settled down at the club and is in the running to be picked up in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup.
The experienced Leighton Baines will start from the left and Seamus Coleman will play down the right of the defence.
Midfield:
Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin will be expected to do the nitty gritty job in the middle of the park. Gueye has been terrific in the last few games and the Toffees will be hoping that he continues his form.
The attacking output from the midfield will be provided by Theo Walcott, Wayne Rooney and Yannick Bolasie.
Attack:
Cenk Tosun will be expected to lead the line, having done a good job since he joined the Merseyside outfit in January.
