Liverpool have enjoyed a successful campaign so far and are in pole position to secure Champions League football for another season. The Reds just need a point from their last game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield which will ensure a top 4 place for them this term. Jurgen Klopp’s men also have the UEFA Champions League final to look forward to, when they will face off against Real Madrid in Kiev later this month.
However, there remains a big question mark over their defence this season with the Merseyside club subject to a lot of unforced errors which has led to some crucial points being dropped in the league by them so far. The Anfield-based side also had a poor showing in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup after being knocked out by Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion respectively in the early rounds of the competitions.
Let’s take a look at three Liverpool players who should be sold when the transfer window opens in the summer.
Simon Mignolet
The Belgian has had a difficult campaign for the Reds so far. He started off as Klopp’s number one goalkeeping option last summer but has lost his place to Loris Karius after a string of high profile mistakes during the first half of this campaign. It’s high time that the club moved him on due to his lack of consistency in goal for the Merseysiders. The 30-year-old shot-stopper has made 22 appearances for Liverpool this term, conceding 30 goals and keeping 7 clean sheets in all competitions.
Dejan Lovren
Like Mignolet, the Croatian defender is another player on this list who is guilty of making some huge errors in big clashes for the Reds so far. However, his defending has improved following the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton in January.
With a crucial Champions League final looming on the horizon, Lovren will be tested once again at the biggest stage and whether he can deliver the goods under pressure remains to be seen. The performance in the Champions League final can very well determine Loveren’s future at the club.

Alberto Moreno
The Spaniard started the season well for the Merseyside outfit but was unfortunately sidelined due to injury. Since then, he has lost his place to Andrew Robertson, who is currently the Reds’ first-choice left-back in Klopp’s starting eleven. Maybe the time is right for him to leave Anfield this summer in search of regular first-team opportunities while Klopp could use the money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of his squad.
