Manchester United are looking to secure the services of AS Roma shot-stopper Alisson Becker this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are weighing up their options ahead of a potential move for the Brazilian international when the transfer window opens in the summer. However, they are only willing to arrange a big money move for the AS Roma star if David De Gea ends up leaving Old Trafford at the end of this current season.
The Brazilian keeper has been in sensational form over the course of this campaign and has put in a number of match-winning displays for his side so far which has not gone unnoticed. Some sources are now claiming that the Reds of Manchester are considering whether to make a £70m offer for Alisson’s signature in this summer transfer period.
It is believed that David De Gea remains Jose Mourinho’s number 1 goalkeeping option at the Manchester club but with speculation about his future not going away, there is a growing concern whether United will part ways with him in the coming months.
Alisson has made 48 appearances for AS Roma this season, conceding just 47 goals while keeping 21 clean sheets across all competitions.
The Red Devils are still occupying the second spot in the Premier League table with a total tally of 78 points in 37 league fixtures. Mourinho is in dire need of some quality players in the summer so that he can reshape his squad ahead of the new season.
The potential acquisition of Alisson will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s goalkeeping options and improve his team significantly going into the new campaign. However, the loss of a world-class goalkeeper like David De Gea could deplete the United side significantly and hamper their chances in the long-run. Alisson is a star in the making but De Gea has already proven himself at the top level for a number of years. Mourinho should do everything in his power to retain the services of De Gea but if he does end up departing from the Manchester club, then the addition of Alisson will be a welcome one.
