Manchester United goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, who is on loan to Aston Villa currently, is being linked to West Ham United who recently secured their future in the English top flight with a win this weekend. Johnstone has been regular between the sticks at Villa Park and has managed an impressive tally of 20 clean sheets in 45 appearances.
Johnstone has gone on to represent England at various age level tournaments and is being touted as someone with a big future. He has been on loan for close to one and a half season at Aston Villa and has been instrumental in their push for Premier League promotion.
West Ham, on the other hand, are struggling with their goalkeeping options as David Moyes has used both Joe Hart and Adrian at some point or the other in the season. However, both of them have been behind some fatal errors and it is yet not certain who is the number one choice custodian at the club. According to reports, the Hammers are willing to send back Joe Hart to their parent club in the summer and will be looking at other options for the number one spot. Meanwhile, the Spaniard custodian Adrian is also uncertain about his future.
David Moyes has done a terrific job at the club as he has secured his team’s place in the English top flight. He took over from Slaven Bilic in November and West Ham were touted as one of the relegation contenders at that point of time. But the former Manchester United manager has done well to keep them safe from any relegation threat. However, Moyes will know that the club expectations will be higher next season and he will need to bolster his squad if he wants to improve from their current position.
It will be interesting to see whether West Ham will get Johnstone on a permanent basis. If Aston Villa secure their promotion, even they might look to make a move for him as he has been an important player for Steve Bruce at the back.

West Ham will have to do defensively much better if they don’t want a relegation scare next season. Both their goalkeepers have been inconsistent this term and the Hammers have managed to pick up just nine clean sheets in their entire campaign. They might have to look for a solid option at the back to reinforce their squad and the signing of the impressive Villa goalkeeper will certainly improve them in the goalkeeping department.
