Latest reports are confirming that Leicester City star Harry Maguire is set to continue with the Foxes beyond this season. The player has been in excellent form this season and has attracted the interest of several clubs across England.
He has been commanding in defence and is poised to play for England in the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. His form has seen the interest of multiple suitors rise in him with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United set to rival Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the player. He reportedly has a transfer value of £35m which is likely to be an affordable price for the Manchester clubs.
However, the twist in the tale is the fact that Maguire might be set to reject these approaches and stay at Leicester. He is clearly not giving in to the lure of playing in Europe and wants to grow with the former Premier League champions. This is what he had to say while interviewed on his future.
“I look back at the start of the season when I had a few options in where to sign and I’m delighted with my choice,” the highly-rated centre-back said in the Leicester Mercury.
“I’ve come to a great club, with a great set of fans, who believe in me ever since I’ve come to the club, so I’m thankful of that. I’m lucky to be at this club and hopefully, I can continue to push on up.”
“Every year first and foremost, we want to stay in the Premier League. We feel like we’ve got enough ability to stay in that comfortably now, so we need to start to look up, rather than down.
“Next season, I think the aim is to beat the points tally that we finish on and we need to go on a cup run and hopefully bring some silverware back to the club and give the fans something to go out with happy.”
Maguire was playing in League One for Sheffield United back in 2014. In a span of four years, he has come to the top and is now set to star for England as well. His determination to stay back at Leicester will definitely be a big boost for the club who will want to improve on their display in the next season.

The Foxes certainly have a strong enough team to beat any English team on a given day but keeping the likes of Maguire is crucial to achieving such results. So the player putting a brief end to the transfer rumours, for the time being, will certainly be a big boost for Claude Puel and his men.
